This is TechSide Daily, the daily voice of TechCocoon. Your briefing on the companies, the capital, and the policy shaping African technology. Here is what matters on June 11, 2026.

Ghana’s Central Bank has suspended MTN’s planned 0.75% wallet-to-bank transfer fee, an early test for the telco’s newly separated fintech unit. This move comes after concerns were likely raised about the potential impact on mobile money users. The fee was set to take effect but has been put on hold pending further review.

In fintech, Tanzanian-founded Nala has secured up to $50m from Liquidity via MUFG-backed Mars Growth Capital to expand its stablecoin cross-border payment infrastructure. This significant funding will enable Nala to scale its operations and improve its payment rails. The investment is a vote of confidence in Nala’s technology and its potential to transform cross-border payments.

Meanwhile in health tech, Cape Town’s AI Diagnostics has raised $5.2m to scale Ostium, an AI digital stethoscope that screens for tuberculosis from lung sounds, with no X-ray needed. This innovative technology has the potential to revolutionize TB diagnosis, particularly in areas where access to X-ray facilities is limited. The funding will help AI Diagnostics expand its reach and impact.

Also today, Nigeria’s Terra Industries is building a 34,000 sq ft drone plant in Accra, set to be Africa’s largest, as escalating Sahel security threats drive demand. The plant will likely create jobs and stimulate economic growth in Ghana while helping to address security challenges in the region. Terra Industries’ investment is a significant bet on the future of drone technology in Africa.
