Editorial standards

Editorial Policy

TechCocoon exists to help readers understand African technology with clarity, speed, context, and care.

Last updated: May 10, 2026

Our principles

Accuracy first

We aim to publish information that is verified, clearly attributed, and fair to the people or companies involved. When a claim cannot be confirmed, we should say so or leave it out.

African tech focus

Our coverage centers on the companies, capital, products, policy, infrastructure, and people shaping technology across Africa and its global connections.

Independence

Editorial judgment should not be bought by advertisers, sponsors, partners, investors, founders, or public relations teams. Sponsored work should be labeled clearly.

Fairness

Stories that contain criticism, disputes, or material allegations should give relevant parties a fair chance to respond when practical and appropriate.

Context

We do not want to chase announcements alone. Our work should help readers understand why a development matters, who it affects, and what changes next.

How we work

Sources and attribution

We rely on direct interviews, company statements, regulatory filings, public datasets, official announcements, credible reporting, and other verifiable materials. Anonymous sources should be used carefully and only when there is a clear public-interest reason.

Conflicts and commercial work

Writers and contributors should disclose material conflicts that could affect a story. Advertising, affiliate relationships, sponsored content, and commercial partnerships should not decide editorial conclusions.

Images and media

Hero images, captions, credits, and alt text should be accurate and should not mislead readers about the subject of a story. Generated or illustrative visuals should not be presented as documentary evidence.

AI-assisted workflows

TechCocoon may use AI-assisted tools for research organization, translation, drafting support, headline exploration, summaries, and production workflows. Editors remain responsible for final editorial judgment, accuracy, tone, and publication decisions.

Updates

Developing stories may be updated as new information becomes available. Significant changes, corrections, or clarifications should be handled under our Corrections Policy.
